Gillian Greenfeld — Director & Producer

Gillian Greenfeld is a Canadian writer, director, and producer working in documentary film. After studying anthropology and film, she continued her training at the renowned FAMU film school in Prague and later completed an MFA in Documentary Media at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). She is the co-director of PHOOLAN, a feature-length docu-drama about the legendary and controversial Bandit Queen of India, Phoolan Devi.

Greenfeld is also directing and producing The Real Spice Girls of Rajasthan, currently in production, which follows a mother and her seven daughters in northern India who inherit their father’s spice shop in a world built to exclude them—defying patriarchal codes as they struggle to survive in Rajasthan’s male-dominated marketplace and blaze a path for other women.

She is the founder and president of Cielo Films, an independent production company dedicated to creating films that explore women’s rights, social justice, and cultural resilience.
